Runaway came into our rescue program on August 26, 2016. Runaway came from the Jones Sale Barn as an escapee/Impoundment. Runaway is a Beautiful, Black, Quarter Horse, Stud. Runaway is estimated to be 3 years of age. Runaway came to us in a completely different way. Runaway was purchased from the Jones Sale Barn on a Thursday evening. The buyer came to pick him up Friday morning along with some cattle he purchased. They got the cattle loaded, when the sale barn owner went to the back to get the horse, the buyer went through the gate to go back there with him, leaving the gate open. Runaway came down the ally to load in the trailer and naturally any smart horse would see the open gate and head that way first. He was calm in the parking lot when someone failed to patiently wait, attempted to herd him back, spooking him and causing him to run all over the town of Jones. Our understanding, he covered a lot of ground in the City limits for many hours. They had tried catching him for several hours before we were made aware of the situation and volunteered to assist. Long story short, after 6 hours on the run, Runaway was finally caught and we impounded him. The owners never came forward to reclaim. Runaway is now a gelding and doing well. He can be difficult to catch from time to time, but he is a sweet boy, just very scared. Runaway has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving this sweet boy a forever, loving home, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Runaway.

Runaway was picked for our 7th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. He was chosen by Trainer Aaron Dickinson.
