Shasta

Shasta came into our rescue program originally on December 19, 2010. sadly, she was returned on June 12, 2015 at no fault of her own. Shasta came from the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division. Shasta is a Beautiful, Chestnut, Belgian, Mare. She is estimated to be 14 years of age. Shasta is lame on her front left leg. We believe it is from an old injury, as the leg has significant calcification. She seems to respond well to a gram of bute in her grain daily to keep her comfortable. She is extremely sweet girl and loves attention. She will never be able to be ridden or pull a cart. She is a pet/companion animal Only. We will be pulling X-rays very soon to be sure it is an old injury and not a form of tumors, etc., We will update as she improves. Please consider making a donation towards Shasta's rehabilitation.

Update 3/01/11 Shasta is seeking her forever, loving home as a COMPANION ANIMAL ONLY She is lame due to an old injury that has healed incorrectly. Her leg has a lot of calcification in it. She gets around great and has her good days and her bad days. She would do great with a gram of bute a day in her grain to keep her comfortable. She is very sweet and loves attention. She deserves a forever, loving family that just wants to give her lots of love and attention. Shasta has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in giving Shasta the forever, loving home that she deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Shasta.

Update June 2015 Shasta has returned to our rescue program at no fault of her own. Sadly, Shasta and her pasture mates lost their land and Shasta is now seeking her forever, loving home. Shasta will need a COMPANION ANIMAL ONLY home. She is lame due to an old injury that has healed incorrectly. She gets around good, but she won't ever be a riding horse. She is super sweet and loves attention. She bonds quickly and just wants to be loved on. Shasta is now 20 years old. She needs to put on a bit more weight, but wouldn't recommend her getting over weight, as that would be too much for her leg. Shasta has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and hoof maintenance. If you would like to give Shasta the Companion only home she deserves, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit Shasta.
